  4.     IMPRISONED. Bernhard Goetz, 41, the so-called Subway
  5. Vigilante who shot four black youths in New York City in
  6. December 1984; for unlawfully possessing a weapon; under
  7. protective custody in the city's Rikers Island jail. Goetz, who
  8. claimed that he was about to be robbed, was acquitted in 1987 of
  9. attempted murder but was convicted of illegal gun possession.
  10. After appeal he was resentenced to one year. He could be
  11. paroled in 51 days.
